Rickmansworth

It's Mothering Sunday here and I'm exhausted from my late night jaunt - not to mention that our clocks changed overnight.  All we had the energy for was a trip to Rickmansworth to walk the dogs (Katy also had a birthday party to attend in the afternoon, but that's not pictured).

Camden Market and The Cure

I had tickets to see The Cure play at Royal Albert Hall, so Ryan and Katy came into London with me to play for the afternoon before heading our separate ways.

First stop was Camden Market.  We grabbed lunch at the food stalls and ate sitting on the motorcycle seats (hard to see - it was so crowded I couldn't step back far for the picture)

Next up was a crepe....

Then on to the feet fish....  I've seen the fish that are supposed to eat the dead skin off your feet several times but never stopped.  Today we decided both Katy and I would do it.  It TICKLES!  Katy and I both squealed and giggled all 15 minutes....
After our fishy adventure we continued to explore the market and found a gorgeous wood carved staircase.

Then past my favorite unique shoe store.

Next we headed toward Kings Cross to check it out because we'd never been before.  Why not let Katy run in the fountain in her pants (underwear here)?

And then a stroll down the Thames.

At last we went our separate ways.  Ryan and Katy headed for home and I headed to the Royal Albert Hall. The concert was incredible; they performed for 3.5 straight hours and were spot on the entire time.  I jumped and danced the entire time and managed to just catch the last train home, getting home at about 1:30am....

Tree Work

Our landlord has been having a lot of work done on our house recently, which included having our trees cut way back.  It finally made them into the fun climbing trees I knew they would be.....

Tate Modern

One last adventure on my own before school goes out for the Easter break.  I headed off to find the Tate Modern.  I actually wanted to see the special Matisse exhibit but it wasn't open yet so I'll just have to head back in the future....

St. Patricks Parade

Continuing our weekend of activities with "St." in the title....

The Chinese New Year parade was smaller than we expected, so we had lowered our expectations for this parade. I still think Denver was bigger last year, but this one turned out to be a nice parade.  We had a great spot and Katy enjoyed it.  Success!

After we tired of the parade (it was long) we decided to head to the large and famous M&M World.  I'd been before but somehow had never managed to take Katy....

A very excited girl about to make her own mix of M&Ms

(I'm pretty sure that eating M&Ms on the train ride home was Katy's favorite part of the day.....)

St. Pauls Cathedral

Off to spend the day exploring St. Paul's Cathedral.

No pictures allowed inside.  I snapped two with my camera sitting on my guide but had no idea where it was actually pointed to.

Ryan and I were both struck by how many memorials/tributes giving thanks there were to the US for wars over the years.  They were truly amazing.

We had built up the "whispering room" to Katy, so we had to make the hike up the stairs to find it.  We were successful and she later said it was her favorite part of the day.

The whispering room is only a stopping point.  Apparently you can climb all the way to the tippy top of the cathedral.  So climb we did!

Part way up:

From almost the top there was a spot you could look back down to the cathedral floor.  It was a LONG way down....

The view from the top:

What goes up must come down.  And down.  And down some more....

The view from the other side on the way down:

The street, at last!
