London Pet Show

Steve Backshall was signing autographs but we didn't want to stand in line, so Katy just photo bombed him...  ;)

Introducing Olive!

Welcome Olive to our pack.  She's a Powderpuff Chinese Crested (ie, she has hair.  Traditionally Chinese Cresteds are hairless).  She's a 3 month old bundle of fluff and energy!

Pickles, understandably, was not a super fan at the start....

Slowly but surely they've gotten there....

May Bank Holiday

After two busy days we took the opportunity to be a little quieter.  A walk in the woods in a spot we'd seen and a little tree climbing was the order of the day....

Whipsnade Zoo

Katy is a HUGE fan of the "Deadly 60" shows that are on the BBC kids channel here.  I received an email from our zoo membership promoting an appearance by Steve Backshall, the show's presenter, at the Whipsnade Zoo.  We has been meaning to check out that zoo anyway, so tickets were secured!

It's a really nice zoo.  Very open and out in the country with gorgeous views all around.

First stop: sign up for the Deadly Explorer contest and pose "with Steve."

We had time before the show so explored the zoo first.

Then on to the main event of our day.  Katy could not have been more thrilled.

She was a little disappointed that he didn't sign autographs, but we did buy her a signed copy of his book, so she was pleased.

On our way out: elephants walking down the road in a line.  Because why not??

Canal Festival and Spanish Market

It was a bank holiday weekend (3 day weekend) so there was a lot going on.  We decided to check out the Canal Festival.  First, some play!

Then on to the festival...

I'm pretty sure we ate our way across the entire thing....

It was a fun event with a lot of neat things to see.

Instead of heading home afterwards we decided to look for the Spanish festival.  Did I mention that we ate our way across London?  Wild mushrooms on toast....

Eventually we rolled our full and happy selves back home - a fun day!
